New Year yet nothing new.
Happy New Year!
I know this is a bit late for a happy new year post but things happen sometimes and I just did not have time to get around to posting. The start of the year was not awesome for me I ended up getting the flu or covid or something else I do not know what it was but I was sick for a week. That being said I never bothered going to the DR because it was not that bad and I don't have to leave the house for any reason so I just stayed at home and rested. I wish that I put more time into exercising but I was really just not well enough for it. Sickness was not the only problem there was a lot of work issues and extended family issues that came up that needed tending to so I was just not in it at all for the past few weeks. I have not gone over my calories for eating but I was not even walking on my treadmill. I want to say resting was good but I have not felt worse in a while overall. Its not like I feel sick but my sleep is not as good and it hard to wake up in the morning. The last thing that has happened over the past few weeks is I have a pinched nerve in my elbow that is causing tingling and weird feelings in my pinky and ring finger. I did get that checked out to make sure it was not something worse and it was determined that it was just a pinched nerve and the options are wait and see if it gets better or worse. Right now its not like it impacts the use of my fingers it just feels weird. If it gets worse then I will have to figure out with my doctor what the options are to resolve it. Either way what a way to start a new year right?
Posting and the upcoming year.
I have a few things I plan on doing this year again and want to blog about them. For example I want to finally really do 100 miles of cycling in a day. I came so close last time at 89 miles and I think this time I will be able to get it done with no problems. Another thing is finally do the triathlon. After finding a place I can swim for a while I got better at swimming and trust I can swim over a mile with no problems. I still wont be fast at it but I wont have to stop half way or anything like that.
I was going to make a whole post about my strava year in sport but it seems like this post might be a better spot for it as I want to beat my current records and next year have higher numbers. I was very active this year and though I could improve my miles of all sports.
2,448 miles of cycling is a lot of cycling for me. With having kids and limited time getting out in the morning I can only get between 10-20 miles of cycling before I have to be back home and in the winter that can be less becuase the fat bike is a lot slower than my gravel bike. I am not sure how I can get more time but I want to get this number to 3,000 miles next year. As for walking I don't log every walk I do and I don't have a mile goal there but I will say I want to make sure I end up walking more often than I have the past year. I still don't take my car most places but I have been falling back into the I would rather drive mind set and that is part of how I got in the place I was when I started this journey. The last one I care about is running. I put less time into running than I should have. I focused a lot more on cycling than I have anything else an 70 miles of running is awful. I have a treadmill at my house that I like to run on and I watch TV or play a video game while I run anyway so there is almost no reason I could not get that number much higher. 200 miles should be the lowest that number is next year but I am aiming for 300. As for the ones things I don't care much about tracking kayaking and things like that I just want to get out and enjoy those things. I like being outside and just having more things to do is always a good thing.
One funny thing to me is I was top 7% for days active! This is not a real achievement and something strava made up to make people like me feel better about paying them I think. There is no way to tell with this number if I was just walking for the minimum 1 minute or if I did 23 hours of cycling in any of those days. Even though I know this and know it means nothing at all I did kind of like to see it for the fun of it. I do not think I will ever log 365 days active and that is not this year I already missed a bunch of days but that would be kind of fun to see.
