Sunday Week End Post.

Image
It is the end of week number two and it has been a good week. I started off okay but ended up doing very well with my exercising. The weather on Saturday was good enough to get out of the house and walk outside instead of on a treadmill so I got to get out of the house to exercise. The weather was not quite good enough for me to do a bike ride so it was still walking but it was quite a bit of walking on Saturday. the auto walking was when I forgot to put my watch in to walking mode before I started and it picked up I was walking after the fact. It does that automatically when ever I am walking for 10 minutes and I love that feature as I forget to set it to walking mode when I am out and about.  Above is the total steps and distance I walked on Saturday. Over all it was a lot of walking and it felt good. Any day I can exercise outside is a good day. I did not end up going over my diet either I stayed with in the 1600 calories the samsung health app lists that I should have. Seeing as al

Keeping on the journey and slightly changing the blog.

I have been keeping up on the exercising and making sure that I keep on doing it almost regardless of how I feel. This as well as keeping up with my kids has caused me to be MUCH more tired at the end of the day and it has been effecting my blogging ambitions. This is sort of a good thing to me in a way because I want to keep up with the exercising even if I don't enter a blog post every single day. I still want to make sure to keep the blog updated everyday or so for now but if I keep feeling as worn down at the end of the day I might have to make the post every other day with longer posts on Sundays. I forgot to take a picture of the scale this time but I did add in another metric to see my progression that I am hoping to keep. I used my samsung watch to measure my body composition and I like this as a general progress graph but I do not know how accurate this measurement is. Either way the accuracy is not as important to me as long as the numbers are relative and go down. What I

Day off the journey but back to it.

Tuesday I had to take a day off of the journey. I was not feeling well enough to bother trying to do a walk. I woke up yesterday and felt a lot better so it was time to get back to it. I decided to walk an extra 15 minutes to make up for some of the missed time on the day I took off. I wont stop exercising but I will take a few days off here and there. I also will not beat myself up about it as life happens as long as I continue to see progress over all it will be worth it.  Thinking about the progress I have been doing very well with keeping to a diet. The weight has been coming off and it has not been two weeks yet. I had to go to an event where I had to put on work pants and they still did not fit correctly. I did not expect that my goals would be done in two weeks, it would be unrealistic to think the pants would fit. That all being said the first blog post I made here you can see that I was at 180 and even though I did that weigh in different than the rest the one after I was 17

Sunday was not Run Day!

Image
I thought I was going to have Sunday be my first day of adding lots more running in with 5 mintues of running every 15 minutes but I did not do that at all. I cought what ever sickness my daughter brought home from school and I was not feeling well at all. I still forced myself to get on the treadmill and I did try to run at the end of the hour walk but I could not do it for 5 minutes with out feeling like I was going to thow up. I am going to stick with this every day and continue to at least walk each day. I am hoping that I feel better for todays treadmill session but so far I am feeling okay at best.  As for the keeping with in the calories I failed on that front as well. I ended up over eating quite a bit because when I don't feel good I try to eat it away which never works but sort of comforts me for a few moments. If you are wondering I what I mean I ate half a large family sized chiken pot pie and half a sleeve of double stuffed Oreo cookies for dinner. It filled stomach an

End of week one summary!

The end of week one has arrived. It is not a long time so far but each week counts and I have seen some results of my exercising already. I started the week around 180 and ended it at 176 so that is fair progress in terms of the weight loss and the goal of once again fitting in the work pants that I no longer fit in.  As for the over all distance, steps, and other numbers I am very happy with thing currently. Total miles this week is 14.78. I also started to add running into the walk and the plan for the moment is to run for 5 minutes every 15 minutes. I am going to shorten that to every 10 minutes do a 5 minute run but right now I am not at the point where I can do that. I have to get further along in my journey before I think I can get to just running. My lungs can keep up, my legs feel fine, and my back has no issues but I run out of juice after 5 minutes of running and need to keep at it to increase my stamina.  You can see the results of the walks/runs in the image above and I onl

Sometimes you just need something new.

I got my new shoes yesterday and it was exactly what I needed. I started out with a walk and then for 10 minutes I did a run. I ended up with no foot pain and it felt like my strides were better.  I am not one to buy expensive things these shoes were some random brand from Amazon. You dont need expensive things to get a journey going and I for sure was not going to buy 50 dollar shoes for just the treadmill. Now I can not comment on how long they will end up lasting but for now they are exactly what I needed to move forward. I felt good enough to run/jog at the end of the session for an extra 10 mintues so I think I will be switching up my approach and making the run part of the hour I have set aside for the treadmill. I not only got my step count up but I also got my heart rate higher and felt better after exercising than when I just walk. Lets hope I can keep it up and run each time.  As for adding weights, at this stage I am still going to wait a bit. I want to hit a weight of aro

Its about the trends not about the daily numbers.

I like the saying you did not put weight on in one day it will not come off in one day. The reason I like this saying is not only because its true but it helps remind me that a bad day does not mean that the whole journey is ruined and its time to give up. I was not feeling awesome yesterday and there was other factors that made me not able to get on the treadmill. After my issue the other day I also found out that the older shoes I was wearing on the treadmill are worn to the point of hurting my foot. There was a peice of the shoe that was just slightly poking out of the cushioning of the shoe and it did not bother me at the time but turns out my foot was hurting right in that spot yesterday. I bought some new shoes for the treadmill that will be in today so that will be resolved but it still means I did not end up exercising.  To be a bit more positive I ended up staying with in the calorie count of 1600 and I did not feel like I was super hungry. I think I will be able to keep a d

Oh the places you will chafe!

I finished the second day of my journey and started to have a problem... I did not think of the amount of sweat rubbing that was going to happen when I started on the treadmill. Its only day two of this and I am already having issues. Every good journey has to have a bit of a rough start. I am glad one of my kids is still young enough where I have plenty of things to take care of my chafing. If you are wondering balmex works awesome for chafing. Aside from the rough feeling the work out was fine. Slightly increased the step count from yesterday in the same amount of time so that is good. I might get the weights cleaned off and ready to use sooner than I thought. After having to deal with the chafing I think adding a little bit of weights in would help with that. My thoughts on this would be to lift weights and cut down a bit on the treadmill at least until I lose enough weight where the chafing is not a problem.  Thinking about my diet and how I should approach that issue I am going to

Exercising Journey day one complete.

I set out to walk on the treadmill yesterday and I have succeded. It might not be much but its the start of the journey. As for how it went... I have my work cut out for me on this. I was able to do it just fine but I clearly needed to start sooner. I was soaked in sweat from this and it was just a walk not a run or anything extra intense. Also I had to pause a few times to refill my water. I thought 32 oz was going to be enough but I needed to have more than that. I got in 7280 steps though so that is going to be my baseline and what I should focus on beating. More steps and or a higher average speed for next week. I am going to keep at what I am at for this week to make sure I can keep at it.  There is so much information out there about exercising and lots of it seems conflicting. I read a few people saying that my plan for every day exercising might be too much and could cause problems while also seeing information that my plan is not enough... I am going to be honest with myself a

Starting my Exercise Journey

Image
Recently I have not been someone that focuses on exercise too much. Normally I just eat what ever I want and the extent of my exercise has been walking my dog around the block. A few years ago used to work out, take lots of hikes, and mountain bike when ever I could, though the biking was not all that often. Then I had my first child and my cares shifted I dropped exercising to have more time being a father. Having fitness and exercise not be my life it was easy to drop and I did not think too much about it until today. Below are the results of that lack of doing much exercise at all. I will say I don't know how accurate the Samsung watch body composition results are but I know the scale is accurate. Going forward I am going to use these as a baseline for my progess in the journey of exercising. Every morning I am going to weigh myself and then use the watch to take the body composition.  I would not have considered myself that overweight and I am healthy where I am at but there is
